RIMES Knowledge and E-Education (KEEn) Portal
RIMES Knowledge and E-Education (KEEn) Portal was developed with the overall goal of contributing to the capacity building of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) of RIMES member and collaborating states, and their stakeholders from various sectors in impact-based forecasting (IBF). The development of the RIMES KEEN Portal was initiated with the support of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) through the project, “Enhancing Weather and Climate Resilience of RIMES Member States through Capacity Building of Impact Forecasting – Phase 2”, in response to the needs and demands articulated by project beneficiary-countries for self-paced online learning courses and references to supplement completed trainings under the project.
RIMES KEEN Portal is envisioned to be a comprehensive knowledge hub to host not only e-learning courses but also scientific publications, articles and reports that are relevant to the system’s target audience. The KEEN Portal is envisaged to be RIMES’ central learning management system (LMS) to host all online courses and educational materials that will be developed by the organization in the future.
Learning Platform
RIMES KEEN Portal is powered by the Open edX® platform.
The Open edX® platform is a free and open source course management system that was originally developed by edX. The Open edX platform is used all over the world to host Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) as well as smaller classes and training modules.
